Mercedes has just unveiled its competitor to the Audi A5 and BMW 4 Series convertibles. Based on the C-Class Coupe, the new C-Class convertible features a glitzy-diamond studded grille, 18-inch wheels and a retractable soft top. Available in four different colors, the soft top can be put up or down in just under 20 seconds at speeds up to 31 miles per hour. Inside, much of the C-Class Coupe interior remains unchanged, albeit with the addition of "Airscarf" neck-level heating as a standard feature and optional heat-reflecting leather seats.

The US will see two available engines. The C300 will be available with a 2.0-liter turbo-four producing 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, and mated to a Mercedes 9G-TRONIC transmission. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system will be available as an option enabling a 0-60 mph run in 6.3 seconds. Those looking for a little more fun are in luck. Mercedes is offering the AMG C43 Cabriolet as well. Featuring a bi-turbo 3.0-liter V6 good for 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft, the C43 is mated to a reworked version of the 9G-TRONIC and features a rear-biased AWD system. Its 0-60 mph time is just 4.7 seconds and top speed is limited to 155 mph. The C300 goes on sale in the US this summer while the AMG C43 in the fall.
