Germany's premier tuning show is sure to be packed with awesome hot hatches just like these.
VW Group tuning specialist ABT has unveiled a pair of new aftermarket packages that will headline the firm's offerings at this year's Essen Motor Show. First up is the "Dark Edition" VW Golf GTI Mk VII. Under the red-accented black body is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine upgraded from 230 to 300 hp. That enables the new GTI the chance to go from 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds.
Exterior mods include redesigned side skirts, front spoiler and skirt, trunk lid attachment, and rear skirt with quad black chrome exhaust, while 20-inch alloys round off the package. The turbo-four in the GTI also resides in the Polo R WRC, which ABT has tuned to deliver 290 hp, up from 220, and fitted with 18-inch ten-spoke DR alloys. ABT is also bringing its Audi RS5-R to Essen, which was first showcased earlier this year at Geneva.
