Race cars have a tendency to go pretty fast most of the time, so when they crash, it's often pretty dramatic. This is especially true of formula cars, which are very fast indeed, and also tend to break apart more on impact. They're also very light, and might therefore go flying at the slightest provocation. This is exactly what happened to GP3 driver Konstantin Tereshchenko after he got sideways at Spa during the Belgian Grand Prix.

The car went flying, then rolled on landing, hit a barrier and caught on fire. Thankfully, the driver jumped out and is fine, but it was one hell of crash.
