Gran Turismo 7's Big February Update Includes 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS

Plus, a classic track returns to the game.

If you're invested in playing Gran Turismo 7 on the Sony PlayStation 5, then you'll want to go check out the February update that includes five new cars and the return of the epic and challenging Grand Valley Highway 1 race track. The most exciting classic car added to the game is the legendary 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS. We're not batting the word legendary around carelessly, as it's the Porsche that pioneered what would later become the GT2 and GT3 RS models sought after today. It also introduced the iconic ducktail spoiler. Just as legendary in F1 terms is the Honda RA272 race car, and in design circles is the wonderful Citroen DS 21 Pallas.

The Honda RA272 was a Formula 1 race car designed by Yoshio Nakamura and Shoichi Sano with a 1.5-liter V12 engine for the 1965 Formula 1 season and the first Japanese car to win an F1 race. The Citroen DS was a landmark luxury car that was way ahead of its time with its technical brilliance with features like hydro-pneumatic, automatically-leveling independent suspension. The one featured in the game is a 1970 model, but it first appeared in 1955 and strove so hard that, by 1965, it featured directional headlights.

The other two cars added are over-the-top Italdesign concept cars - the EXENEO Vision Gran Turismo Street Mode and the EXENEO Vision Gran Turismo Off-road Mode. The Vision Gran Turismo concept came about after Gran Turismo founder Kazunori Yamauchi asked: "Would you design your rendition of the ideal GT for us?"

Sony's update to Gran Turismo also includes a new "Drift Photography" feature, a limited-time event that puts racers up against AI agent-controlled cars, and PlayStation VR2 support has been added to console versions of the game.

However, and most importantly to those that have been playing the game through its generations, Grand Valley is back with an updated look to go with the updated graphics. Both the full Highway 1 configuration and the shorter 2,000-meter South layout are available, and that's where you'll find us in the evenings for the rest of the week. Hopefully, more updates with more cars and tracks will arrive before the August reveal of the live-action film based on the game.
