To be offered exclusively to P1 owners.
Last month’s rumor that McLaren was pondering a track-only variant of the P1 has been confirmed with the British carmaker claiming it “will be the company’s most powerful car yet.” Set to be launched in 2015, McLaren says the track-only P1 will “also be its rarest,” offered exclusively to those who already own the street-legal P1. Also coming in 2015 will be the automaker’s entry-level P13, a "comfortable, usable, and beautiful mid-engined two seater sportscar, built around a carbon fiber chassis."
Further variants will be offered over time as McLaren aims to increase annual sales to 4,000 units. Thanks to solid sales of the 12C and strong orders for the 650S, coupled with the opening of additional 20 showrooms, McLaren expects 2014 to build on the £285.4m revenue and £4.5m pre-tax profits it earned in 2013. The long-term future of the carmaker also looks assured, as McLaren announced it increased spend on research and development of new models to £70.6m in 2013.
