Yesterday saw the official unveiling of the baddest, most powerful, and fastest of Godzillas, the Nissan GT-R Nismo. As the sun will soon set on the current GT-R, Nissan at this point is all about getting that car as good as it can be before retirement. And the final result is magnificent. There were rumors of a 7:08 Nurburgring lap time for the GT-R Nismo, but now Nissan has confirmed the official number: 7:08.679. For the record, the extraordinary lap time puts the GT-R Nismo ahead of the likes of the Lexus LFA and Porsche 918 Spyder.

So in other words, the GT-R Nismo is now the "fastest volume production car" to have touched the pavement at that famous German track. Check out the official dash cam footage featuring Nissan driver Michael Krumm behind the wheel as he set that record.
