The McLaren F1 is one of the most sought after supercars ever. The car was way ahead of its time when it began production in 1992 and also incredibly limited. By the time that last F1 rolled out of the factory in 1998, only 106 examples were produced, and not all of them were street legal. The F1 once held the title as the world's fastest production car, and was in a class of its own until hypercars came into existence during the course of the last decade or so.

In fact, the McLaren F1 is so sought after that one of these recently sold for around $12.5 million - even after accumulating 40,000 miles on the odometer and being repaired following a serious accident (that would be Rowan Atkinson's F1). That was well above the original list price of approximately $840,000. For these reasons and more, our gearhead hearts started racing when we saw these beautiful photographs of a perfect McLaren F1 located in Johannesburg. The F1 featured here is one of only two in South Africa. Photos courtesy of Zero2Turbo/ @jesse.l.o_photography and @alexremy_photography.
