In just one day, accordingly to Chrysler, some 10,000 orders were placed for the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200. By day two, 17,000 orders were in the books. Compared to the model it replaced, the new Chrysler 200 is already being seen by consumers and Chrysler dealerships as a solid winner. And because of these very impressive order numbers, the Sterling Heights, Michigan Assembly Plant is already at full-capacity through mid-July.

Pricing starts at just $22,695 and buyers have a choice between either a 2.4-liter MultiAir 2 TigerShark four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower, or a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 295 ponies. A nine-speed automatic transmission comes standard for both engines. Chrysler didn't provide a breakdown as to how many of these orders were placed by dealerships or by customers ordering a specifically optioned model. More than likely, Chrysler dealers placed the bulk of them, just a further sign indicating the high confidence they have in moving them off the lot. Later this summer we'll have a better idea whether or not the Chrysler 200 has caused a dent into the sales of its arch rivals, namely the Ford Fusion.
