Guess Which Automaker Exports The Most Cars From The US?

Hint: it's not an American brand.

This isn’t the first time this particular automotive production facility has been recognized for this honor, and it certainly won’t be the last. Spartanburg, South Carolina, is the home of the long-running BMW production facility that churns out popular models such as the X3, X4, X5, X5M, X6, X6 M, and, beginning in 2017, the X7. Yes, more Xs than what’s plastered on a porn website. And once again for 2014, the Spartanburg Plant is the top US auto exporter.

Last year alone it produced a total of 364,000 vehicles, and more than 260,000 of those were exported out of the US. And get this: the facility even produces some BMWs that aren’t even available for sale in the US, such as the X6M50d. All told, these BMW SUVs are sent to 140 countries. Spartanburg is so successful that last year BMW announced a $1 billion expansion in order to accommodate future models. Annual production is expected to increase from 300,000 to 450,000. That 50% production increase will only require an additional 10% more workers.
