What should have been a time to celebrate has turned into the exact opposite situation. Twenty-seven-year-old Adam Griffiths won what may have been his dream car: a red 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX thanks to Dream Car Giveaways in the UK. With just 70,000 miles on it, the FQ-320 model Evo came with a full service history and was in overall remarkably good condition for its 15 years of age. Griffiths traveled to collect his prize and the happy story ends there, right? Not exactly.

Less than 24 hours later, Griffiths was involved in a serious crash that left the Evo totaled, according to Wales Online. Dream Car Giveaways confirmed the incident in an updated social media post.

"As most of you will be aware unfortunately the Evo was written off in an accident this morning," DCG stated. "The main thing is Adam is fine, we don't know what happened and won't speculate. Please be respectful in your comments. It can happen to anyone. We wish Adam all the best from DCG."

Based on the two photos taken at the scene, the car's front bumper was ripped off and the hood has been smashed. The intercooler is also destroyed and the engine is likely seriously damaged. We wouldn't be surprised if the front suspension is also damaged beyond repair. But it doesn't matter now. The car is totaled and that's the end of it.

No specific details of the crash were provided, only that it was a single-vehicle collision. No alcohol or drugs were involved and he's fully insured. "It's my fault, I hurt myself in this crash and I've got to deal with the consequences," Griffiths said. "I'm just lucky that my passenger was able to walk away - the car can be replaced but some things can't." He's absolutely right and his attitude is commendable. A true class act.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for social media trolls. Griffiths has since had to take down his Facebook page following plenty of online abuse. Some have even contacted his mother saying he "should die and stuff." Accidents happen but no one deserves to be treated this way.
