Despite its many ups and downs over the decades, Dodge has proven to be a true survivor.
It’s had its share of plenty of ups and downs, but Dodge has proven to be a survivor. 2014 is the American automaker’s 100th birthday, and it’s come a long way ever since the Dodge brothers started off as a simple bicycle business. Headquartered in Detroit, it then began to manufacture and supply parts for automakers such as Ford and Oldsmobile. That, however, simply wasn’t good enough, so the brothers decided to build their own car. The first Dodge was unveiled in late 1914.
Both Dodge brothers sadly died in 1920 due to contracting influenza, but their company has survived, despite multiple owners and a recent bankruptcy. To help celebrate, we put together a photo gallery showing some of the great Dodge models over the years. So here’s to many more hopefully trouble-free years of building great cars and innovation. Happy 100th birthday, Dodge.
