First and foremost, we want to wish all of our American readers a happy Fourth of July. Hope everyone is enjoying the BBQs, drinks, fireworks, and all other festivities. But we also want all of you to be aware that Independence Day weekend is the most dangerous time of year to be on the road. According to data gathered by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), more people were killed in car accidents on July 4 than on any other day of the year.

The crash data was collected from between 2008 through 2012, and the information clearly showed that traffic fatalities were highest on this specific day with an average of more than 127 people killed on this day. Compare that to 122.4 killed on January 1, the next worst driving day of the year. All told, 637 Americans were killed on July 4 between 2008 and 2012. With that in mind, safe driving everyone.
