Jaguar's new hardcore SUV is expected to use the same supercharged 5.0-liter V8 as the F-Type SVR.
We've seen camouflaged prototypes of the highly-anticipated F-Type SVR being tested, but now Jaguar has officially confirmed the hardcore SUV will make its world debut at the New York Auto Show this week. The media day starts tomorrow, so we'll get to see the savage SUV break cover in less than 24 hours – unless, of course, Jaguar reveals it online before its public debut. Jaguar teased it will be the "fastest and most powerful" F-Type yet.
The range-topping SUV is expected to be powered by the same supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission as the F-Type SVR, which has 567 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque on tap. Whether or not the F-Pace SVR will retain these specifications or have a slight power downgrade remains to be seen. 0-62 mph is expected to take around four seconds, so it could be quicker off the line than the Porsche Macan, while top speed should be in excess of 175 mph. It could even potentially attempt a new Nurburgring SUV lap record. As well as a performance upgrade, previous spy shots have revealed the F-Pace SVR will gain a redesigned bumper, larger air intakes, and a revised rear.
To handle the extra power under the hood, the suspension and brakes will also be upgraded, while the F-Type SVR's spine-tingling exhaust note should also carry over. In the US, pricing for the F-Pace starts at $42,065, but the SVR version is expected to be around twice that. Priced at around $80,0 00, the F-Type SVR will rival the $77,200 Porsche Macan Turbo and $79,995 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Jaguar's new hardcore SUV is expected to arrive in dealers later this year, but we'll learn more very soon.
