Hennessey Dodge Demon Clocks A 9-Second Quarter Mile

Muscle Car / Comments

Because of course it would.

Hennessey Performance is famous for "making fast cars faster," and this is all the more true with the already crazy fast Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. We've known Texas-based Hennessey was working on a modified Demon and now we can see the results. According to Hennessey, its HPE1000 Dodge Demon has achieved a 9.14-second quarter-mile time at 152 mph at Hennessey's private drag strip. If that's not already impressive enough, it also managed a 1.9-second 0-60 mph time.

For comparison, a stock Demon does the quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph, and blasts to 60 mph from a standstill in 2.3 seconds. Hennessey further adds that it was one of the first aftermarket tuners to get its hands on and begin working on the Demon, and the results speak for themselves.

"The 2018 Demon is a street-legal rocket from Dodge, but we wanted to take the car's impressive track times to an industry leading level," said John Hennessey. "Over the past several months we have worked to develop a low 9 second drag car that our customers can drive to the track, put on an impressive show with blistering 1/4 mile times, and then drive home in complete comfort." The HPE1000 Demon's improved performance times also mean it's become even more powerful. All told, output is now rated at 1,035 hp at 6,500 rpm and 948 lb-ft of torque available at 4,200 rpm. A stock Demon has 840 hp and 770 lb-ft of torque.

Hennessey upgrades include a 4.5-liter supercharger system instead of the factory 2.7-liter system. Other modifications include stainless steel long tube headers, a high-flow air induction system, upgraded throttle body, fuel pump and fuel injectors, along with a custom engine management calibration. Production of the HPE1000 Demon is limited to only 50 examples, which is really a decent amount considering only 3,000 Demons are destined for the US. Exact pricing for the Hennessey upgrades was not given, but the car does come with a 1-year/12,000 mile limited warranty. Interested?
