Hennessey Performance is no stranger to building stupidly fast cars. The company has built everything from a 1,000-horsepower Jeep Gladiator to a 200 mph-capable Corvette C8. Despite being one of the best brands to extract much more from brand new cars than they leave the factory with, the company also still has a thing for slightly older models.

Enter Hennessey's HPE850 Corvette Z06. As you might expect, the 850 in that name signifies the power output, which is accompanied by a figure of 715 lb-ft of torque. But what does this menacing machine sound like? Well, Hennessey has released a video showing track testing of the HPE850, and it sounds wild.

The HPE850 conversion is available for 2015-2019 Z06s with the LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8. It includes upgrades to the cylinder heads, valve springs, intake system, camshafts, and exhaust system, among other things. All of this results in the abovementioned power figures which help launch the car from 0-60 mph in just 2.6 seconds. Take it to the strip and Hennessey claims you can clock the quarter-mile in just 10.3 seconds while achieving an exit speed of 136 mph. However, if this sort of thing interests you, you'll have to act fairly quickly, as Hennessey is only producing 100 examples of the HPE850.

Although pricing is not readily available, we wouldn't expect the conversion to be cheap. So how do you let everyone know that you've got a rocket of a Z06? Well, there's not much that separates the HPE850 from a regular Z06 in terms of aesthetics. Inside, you get some embroidered floor mats while the body of the car only has a few subtle badges to warn unsuspecting rivals of its capabilities. While that may not be to everyone's liking, we think the idea of a sleeper is always a good one. And the best part of all? The conversion carries a two-year/24,000-mile limited warranty. Performance and peace of mind? That's always a winner.
