Hennessey's New Ford Mustang has 717 Horsepower

You expected something less from these guys?

The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang will soon hit dealerships, but already Hennessey Performance has something special planned. What you’re looking at are the first images and initial details of Hennessey’s 717-horsepower Mustang. That’s right: 717 ponies (and 632 lb-ft of torque). For comparison, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has 707 hp and 650 lb-ft. Called the HPE700, Hennessey added to the 5.0-liter V8 a supercharger running 7.25 psi of boost. In stock form, that V8 produces 435 hp. Do the math: Hennessey added 282 horsepower.

0-60 mph happens in 3.6 seconds and a quarter-mile time in just 11.2 seconds at 131 mph. Hennessey says that’s faster than both the Challenger Hellcat and Corvette Z06. Other upgrades include a new stainless steel exhaust, upgraded fuel injectors and pumps, ECU adjustment, carbon-fiber bodywork, and 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels. Just 500 examples are planned and pricing will start at $59,500 – including the price of the base car. It’s no coincidence that’s nearly the same base price of the Hellcat.
