Hennessey's Next Project Is Going To Be The...Acura NSX?

So this could be quite something.

The official announcement really wasn't a big deal, but it's still kind of a big deal nonetheless. Hennessey Performance has announced that one of its next projects is going to be a power boost for the all-new Acura NSX. A lot of the details have yet to be announced, but Hennessey stated that it'll be "offering a wide range of 2017 Acura NSX twin turbo engine performance upgrades including upgraded twin turbo system, stainless steel exhaust, intercooler, light weight wheels and more."

No word on pricing just yet, but we're (obviously) anxious to find out the final performance figures. The NSX you can buy right now comes powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that's combined with three electric motors. Total output is 573 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and Acura's very own Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. Top speed is 191 mph and 0-60 mph happens in about three seconds. Acura already offers additional add-ons such as a carbon fiber body kit that includes a rear diffuser, front spoiler and side skirts.

As for what the Hennessey-spec NSX will be capable of, a fair guess would probably put top speed well over the 200-mph mark and a faster 0-60 sprint time. The exterior, as with all other Hennessey-tuned cars, will likely only feature Hennessey badges, thus keeping the NSX's original design intact. We'll bring you official details the moment we have them.
