HPE has targeted the new McLaren for its latest tuning project and aims to boost power by 200hp.
Hennessey Performance (HPE) has the McLaren MP4-12C in their sights with plans to take the supercar to a higher level of performance. Company founder and president John Hennessey said of the project: "I spent a lot of time around the new 12C at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was very impressed. We're excited to have the opportunity to take a great car and give it our own special performance touch while giving 12C owners a uniquely aggressive appearance."
Dubbed the HPE800 Twin Turbo concept, the tuning package includes upgrading the powertrain in order to increase power from the 3.8-liter V8 from 592 to over 800hp, and adding a more aggressive aero package to increase downforce. The Hennessey Carbon Aero bodywork will feature a new, center-positioned frontal air inlet with hood extractor to allow for larger heat exchangers. Improved engine intercooling and transmission cooling will be the result. Other upgrades include a titanium exhaust system, Hennessey Monoblock wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires.
Of the interior, HPE claim carbon-fiber, Alcantara and leathers will be used, without mentioning any specific details. HPE is not planning suspension or brake system upgrades "as the factory systems will be difficult to improve upon." Upgrades will be offered as entire package and some as individual parts although pricing has yet to be set.
