The Ford F-150 Raptor follows a simple recipe: mean looks, insane off-road capability, a relatively affordable price tag, and a high-performance V8. Or at least this was the case until the second-generation F-150 Raptor arrived last year. While it had no shortage of power with 450-hp on tap, it was missing a key ingredient: the V8 was replaced with a V6 EcoBoost engine, much to the dismay of previous owners.

Luckily, Hennessey has answered the prayers of enthusiasts who miss the sound of a growling V8 with the creation of the 2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor V8, which debuted at SEMA 2018 this week.

Hennessey has removed the EcoBoost V6 and swapped it with a custom-built Ford 5.0-liter V8 engine cranked up to deliver 758 horsepower via the tuner's 2.9-liter supercharger system, which produces seven psi of boost pressure. Other Ford-sourced parts include a 10-speed automatic transmission, wiring harness and ECUs. With these modifications, Hennessey's V8-powered Raptor will rocket from 0-62 mph in just 4.1 seconds and do the quarter mile in 12.2 seconds at 115 mph.

"We are so excited to introduce our VelociRaptor V8 – the first and only V8-powered Gen 2 Ford Raptor," said company founder and CEO, John Hennessey. "Our customers have been begging for a V8 option for their new Raptors since the truck first came out in early 2017. We heard their calls and are so pleased to meet this need in the market. The sound of the VelociRaptor V8 is so worth it!"

As well as getting an engine swap, the VelociRaptor V8 features custom front and rear bumper, LED front lights, Stage 2 off-road suspension with a six-inch lift, 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in chunky 37-inch off-road tires, Hennessey & VelociRaptor V8 exterior badges, and Hennessey embroidered headrests, plus serial numbered plaques in the interior and engine bay.

The 2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor V8 costs $147,950, which includes a new 2019 Ford Raptor F-150 truck. Production will be limited to 100 units for the 2019 model year. Each vehicle also comes with a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty that covers the base Ford truck as well as the complete VelociRaptor V8 conversion.
