When you have a really fast car and want to make it even faster, Hennessey Performance should probably be your first phone call. The American tuner recently took the already bonkers Chevy Corvette ZR1 and brought it from a ludicrous 755 horsepower up to a scarcely believable 1,000 hp. With this massive power boost, Hennessey's HPE1000 ZR1 is capable of hitting 60 mph in 2.3 seconds and completing the quarter-mile time in just 9.4 seconds at 147 mph.
But if you think the Texan tuner is ready to call it quits at 1,000 hp, you clearly don't know Hennessey. The tuner has now announced its HPE1200 Supercharged Engine Upgrade for the 2019 Corvette ZR1, which increases the power to a whopping 1,200 hp.
This is Hennessey's most potent package for the ZR1, producing 1,200 hp at 6,400 rpm and 1,066 lb-ft torque at 4,000 rpm. Getting 1,200 hp out of an engine isn't easy, so the upgrades to the 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 V8 includes a ported factory supercharger, billet high-flow throttle body, upper pulley upgrade, lower pulley upgrade, high-flow air induction system, custom HPE camshaft, ported cylinder heads, upgraded valve springs and retainers, upgraded intake and exhaust valves, upgraded lifters and pushrods, long-tube stainless steel headers, stainless steel mid-pipes, high-flow catalytic converters, HPE engine management calibration, and dyno tuning with road testing.
It's worth noting Hennessey will upgrade the eight-speed automatic transmission to handle the extra power but the seven-speed manual does not require an upgrade. Hennessey also stipulates that the 1,200 hp tune requires race gas and will only produce 1,100 hp on 93 octane fuel.
Along with the engine upgrades, the HPE1200 Package also includes numbered dash and engine plaques, Hennessey exterior badges, Hennessey floormats, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum synthetic oil and filter change, and a three-year / 36,000-mile limited warranty. Hennessey hasn't posted pricing for this bonkers package on its website but says to call "for pricing and turnaround time details."
