Hennessey Performance builds insane versions of vehicles like the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, Corvette, and even the Lincoln Navigator. Muscle car and SUV builds are one thing, but Hennessey's focus has expanded to developing 6x6 pickup trucks. Its latest, an extreme version of the Ram 1500 TRX, just entered production. The Hennessey Mammoth 1000 6x6 TRX makes an already large truck into a true road-going behemoth.

The Ram TRX's supercharged 6.2-liter V8 produces 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque in stock form, but Hennessey's drawing much more power out of the Hellcat unit. Using a 2.65-liter supercharger with a high-flow induction system and upgraded fuel injectors, the shop extracts 1,012 horsepower and 969 lb-ft of torque - a jump of more than 300 in both categories.

We don't have performance figures and don't know how much the Mammoth weighs, but it's likely that the power and torque increases will be enough to overcome added heft and size. Hennessey's two-axle Mammoth TRX makes the sprint from 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and the standard truck does it in 4.5 seconds, so it's hard to imagine that the truck would be considerably slower than that, even with an extra axle and wheels.

Interestingly, the truck's height and width are unchanged from stock. Hennessey claims an almost seven-foot height and an 88-inch width, which match up with Ram's specs. Things go off the rails with the truck's length, which at 283 inches is around four feet longer than the base Ram TRX. The Mammoth 1000 doesn't require a special driver's license, but at more than 23 feet long, it'll be challenging for even the most experienced drivers in the right conditions.

The upside is that the bed is much longer than the stock setup, so there could be a practical benefit to driving a school bus-sized pickup truck.

That length accommodates the upgrades Hennessey slapped underneath the truck. In addition to an extra axle, the 20-inch wheels are wrapped in beefy 37-inch off-road tires, and the Mammoth comes standard with Bilstein suspension and locking rear axles.

Pricing for the Mammoth starts at $449,950, which at least includes the $77,000 TRX pickup. Hennessey hasn't said how many it would build, but it's already sold more than 20 of its other 6x6 trucks, the VelociRaptor and Goliath Silverado. The neat thing is that the shop works directly with Ram dealers to sell and service the Mammoth, so the massive truck comes with a two-year/24,000-mile warranty.
