For just under $60k, all of this can be yours.
It’s hard to believe that $59,900 will buy you 707 horsepower of American muscle. That about sums up the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. America is awesome. And now we’re getting even more details about what’s without question one of the coolest cars from an American automaker in years. Autoblog is claiming that, according to Dodge President and CEO Tim Kiniskis, the Challenger SRT Hellcat’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 is 91-percent new compared to the standard 392 engine.
A total of 80-hp is required to drive the supercharger and its quarter-mile time has been clocked at 11.2 seconds. To keep all that power tamed, the Hellcat will come with 15.4-inch front brakes and a three-mode adaptive suspension, with normal, street, and race settings. The optional eight-speed automatic gearbox also receives a 30 percent boost in its torque capability. The six-speed manual comes straight from the Viper. Just to further give you an idea as to just how powerful this car is, its powertrain is capable of burning "1.5 gallons of fuel per minute."
If driven normally, however, you’ll be able to achieve a solid 20 mpg highway. Here’s one last bit of awesome info: the dynos used during Viper development weren’t capable of handling the Hellcat’s output. Chrysler needed new ones to test the engine.
