When done correctly, oversteer is one of the coolest looking things you can do with a car. That's because it's a lot like snowboarding in the sense that you tame something that seems uncontrolled by balancing throttle and steering angle (or carving angle and slope angle) to shred tires and snow alike. Understeer on the other hand is a word that puts a sour taste in the mouths of drivers. Believe us when we say you want to avoid the nasty fun-killing front tire slippage, although it isn't always as easy as it seems.

To help us avoid it, and to inform us on the phenomenon, Randy Pobst of Motor Trend dons a few costumes and vaporizes a few tires to help us out next time we hit the track.
