The Mustang is one of the ultimate muscle cars of all time, but in recent years Ford has done all it can to turn it into more of a sports car than an old school muscle car. Luckily, there are still aftermarket Mustang models like the Road To Race Mustang Savage 660 that still bring the lunacy. The RTR Mustang is built on the Mustang GT, which means that it is powered by a 5.0-liter Coyote V8. That would typically produce 435 hp, but RTR added a supercharger so it now produces 693 hp and 608 lb-ft.

With all of that extra power, the RTR Mustang Savage is now more powerful than the Mercedes E63 AMG with its 612 hp and 627 lb-ft twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. The Mercedes may be German, but AMG has really embraced the muscle car spirit.

Even though the RTR appears to get the jump on the AMG, the E63 uses its superior AWD grip to simply soldier past the Mustang. We think that AMG has earned its honorary muscle car designation, because it truly understands the muscle car spirit of putting larger engines into all of its cars. In this particular drag race, the RTR Mustang set a quarter-mile time of 12.99 seconds, while the E63 was able to run it in 11.4 seconds. The new E63 is one of the fastest sedans on the planet, and it can even defeat tuned monsters.
