Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is racing into cinemas this August, the first spin-off movie in the popular Fast & Furious franchise starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. This won't be the only Fast & Furious spin-off released this year, as a new animated series is airing on Netflix later this year.

Produced by Dreamworks Animation, the animated automotive series was first announced last April, and now the first teaser trailer has dropped for Fast & Furious: Spy Racers.

The short 30-second teaser trailer shows a muscle car and a sports car battling it out in high-speed race along an LA viaduct. In one scene, a car smashes through a fence and performs a huge jump to catch up with the lead car. From the trailer, it's clear the animated show will retain the live action film's fast-paced car action.

The Fast & Furious films are known for bending the laws of physics, so we're expecting the stunts to be even more over the top and spectacular in the animated show. Both cars in the trailer are unlicensed, but one of them is clearly inspired by a classic Dodge Challenger and sports different grille. The animation also looks slick, although we don't get to see how any of the characters look.

Fast & Furious: Spy Racers will center around Dominic Toretto's teenage cousin, Tony Toretto, and his group of friends who get recruited by a government agency to "infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination." Whether any cast members from the Fast & Furious movies have any cameo roles in the animated show remains to be seen.

Vin Diesel will also act as executive producer alongside Neal Moritz and Chris Morgan, who produced the live-action films. There's no release date for Fast & Furious: Spy Racers yet, but the trailer says the new animated series is "coming soon" to Netflix. After the animated show, Fast & Furious 9 will hit theaters next year on May 22 with John Cena replacing The Rock. A female-focused spin-off movie is also in the works according to Vin Diesel.
