Here's How Much The Rugged 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline Will Cost

Pricing / Comments

It's slightly more expensive than the GMC Yukon AT4.

Last month, the 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline debuted in Detroit as the most off-road capable version of the three-row SUV yet. Joining the Explorer Timberline trim, the Expedition Timberline boasts an increased ground clearance, chunkier tires, and a more rugged appearance. At the time, Ford didn't announce pricing details. But thanks to sources close to the marque we now know that the 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline will start at $66,690 plus $1,695 delivery and destination charge, bringing the total MSRP to $68,385.

This means it costs roughly the same as the 2022 Expedition Limited 4×4, which starts at $66,780, but more than the off-road-focused 2022 GMC Yukon AT4, which retails for $65,100 excluding destination.

Pricing for the rest of the 2022 Ford Expedition range hasn't been confirmed yet, but the current model ranges from $51,000 to $77,000 for the Expedition Platinum Max. For $68,385, the Expedition Timberline offers a best-in-class 10.6 inches of ground clearance, as well as a Trail Turn Assist enabling tighter turns when tackling trails.

It also rides on massive 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires and is fitted with a two-speed transfer case and underbody protection borrowed from the F-150 Raptor. Visually, the off-road-focused Expedition Timberline sports a unique front grille, Active Orange accents, and a wider track.

Under the hood, you'll find a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 good for 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear or all four wheels.

The Expedition Timberline will replace Ford's popular FX4 Off-Road Package previously available as a $1,650 package for the Expedition XLT 4x4. While it was cheaper than the new Timberline trim, the FX4 Off-Road Package didn't include the Trail Turn Assist. The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline will go on sale early next year, but it won't be available for the long-wheelbase Expedition Max.
