Here's When 2023 Ford Maverick Orders Will Begin

Missed out on the 2022 Ford Maverick? This is when you can order the 2023 model.

The Ford Maverick is proving wrong everyone who said there is no market in the US for a compact pickup smaller than the Ranger. Thanks to its affordable asking price and excellent fuel economy, the Maverick is outselling its chief rival, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, by a significant margin.

Ford's new compact pickup is also proving to be popular with women, as more than a quarter of Maverick buyers are female, and a quarter of buyers are aged between 18 and 35 years, which is double the industry average for this age group. Ford's compact pickup is so popular that the hybrid version is sold out for the 2022 model year, but now we know when the 2023 version will be available to order.

Order books for the 2023 Ford Maverick will open on August 16th, 2022. Production of the 2023 Ford Maverick will then start at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant on October 24th, 2022, though this date could change depending on supply issues. There have been many delays as a result of this issue, with some manufacturing plants being forced to shut for extended periods.

As before, the 2023 Ford Maverick will be sold with a choice of two powertrains: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid producing up to 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque or a 2.0-liter EcoBoost rated at 250 hp and 277 lb-ft.

Deliveries of the EcoBoost model started back in September, while the hybrid version is delayed until January 2022 as it needed to pass emissions regulations before going on sale. As an apology, Ford is offering Maverick customers experiencing delays a free Ford Integrated Tether System accessory kit. Pricing for the 2022 Maverick starts at a highly attractive $19,995. The 2023 Maverick may get a slight price increase, but the pickup's sub-$20,000 price is one of its main selling points, so maintaining that would help Ford sell even more. Trademark filings also suggest Ford could add an off-road-focused Maverick Tremor to the lineup, but there's no word on when this could be introduced.
