Here's Why David Beckham Really Likes The New Maserati Grecale SUV

Even though the star footballer doesn't own one yet.

Celebrities and exotic cars go hand in hand, and David Beckham is well-known for his affinity for fast machines, especially those of the Italian variety. Beckham has been heavily involved in the motoring industry, and not only for making headlines because of dumb mistakes: the guy owns his own EV company, and he's heavily involved with Maserati design.

Back in December we reported on Beckham's custom Maserati MC20 that the ex-football player had a hand in designing. Now he's back for some more Maserati action, but this time it's not a low-slung supercar, but the Maserati Grecale, the company's new SUV.

The soccer star recently shot some promo videos for the Grecale at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and shows him making his way to the annual motoring event. In the first clip, Beckham is simply shown blipping the throttle of the Grecale, and he later noted that the engine "always sounds good". He added that "It's no secret how much I love cars.. so it's brilliant to have one that gives me an adrenaline rush in everyday life." While at Goodwood, Beckham also got to experience the MC20 Cielo convertible. Beckham has yet to buy a Grecale, but after watching these clips, it's clear that the man is really into it.

Maserati offers the Grecale in three trim levels; the Modena, GT, and top-line Trofeo, which is powered by the very same engine that pushes the MC20 supercar. This 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine produces 523 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque in the Grecale, allowing it to dash to 60 mph in only 3.8 seconds, and top out at an impressive 177 mph. Beckham might be in love with the sound of that V6, but we're excited to see what the soccer legend thinks about the EV version that is set to make an appearance for the 2023 model year.
