Here's Your Best Look Yet At Ford's Incredible Bronco Raptor

Off-Road / Comments

It looks amazing!

Ford confirmed that a Raptor version of the popular Bronco is on the way in 2022. This high-performance model will take the Bronco's power and off-road specifications to another level entirely. Details about the new Bronco Raptor have been hard to come by, but we now have our first look at the off-roader thanks to these official pictures from Bronco Nation. Yes, the Bronco Raptor seen here is still partially hidden behind a camo wrap, but it's not so concealed that we can't make out a number of changes made by Ford. Photographed playing in the dirt, the Bronco Raptor is characterized by its unique grille, raised stance, and chunky off-road rubber.

Like the F-150 Raptor, the Bronco Raptor's grille features bold FORD lettering. The pictures also lead us to believe that the SUV has a wider track than the regular Bronco. There are bold fender flares, amber clearance lights, and we suspect that 37-inch tires will be equipped. It also has darker taillights and skid plates. Together with Fox's Live Wire twin-bypass dampers, the new Bronco Raptor will be capable of high-speed off-roading that will make this one of the ultimate adventure SUVs. To be sold as a four-door exclusively, we've got to say that the Bronco Raptor looks absolutely monstrous.

As to what will power the Bronco Raptor, this remains unconfirmed by Ford. However, a likely engine for the job is a more powerful EcoBoost V6. We expect this V6 to displace 3.5-liters. Considering that the most powerful current Bronco produces 310 horsepower from its 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, the new Bronco Raptor is likely to produce at least 350 hp, if not closer to 400 hp. That still wouldn't be enough to out-muscle the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392's 470 horses from its Hemi V8, but perhaps an even more powerful Bronco Raptor R is in the works? Maybe there will even be a road-going version of the new Bronco DR. The new Bronco Raptor is expected to arrive around the middle of 2022 and we wouldn't be surprised if it debuted with a starting price of close to $70,000.
