Last week, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV made its much-anticipated debut, and it didn't disappoint. With up to three motors generating 1,000 horsepower, the Hummer EV represents the world's first electric supertruck that will go after the Tesla Cybertruck. Pricing for the Edition 1 will cost $112,595 and one of the early adopters is YouTuber Speed Phenom, who also owns a C8 Corvette. Surprisingly, General Motors has only showcased the Hummer EV in CGI videos so far. The manufacturer also admitted that a fully working prototype hasn't been built yet, despite deliveries starting in fall 2021.

However, Speed Phanom managed to take a closer look at a Hummer EV prototype that looks almost production-ready. According to the YouTuber, this is a one-of-one prototype but the design closely resembles the final production version of the Hummer EV Edition 1.

Compared to its H3 predecessor, the new Hummer EV looks futuristic with its sleeker design in contrast to the boxy old model, slim LED headlights and taillights, and illuminated grille. As the YouTuber steps inside, it's clear the cabin is a huge technological leap, equipped with a massive 13.4-inch infotainment display with fancy graphics and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. There is also a distinct lack of physical buttons as most of the functions such as the climate control are controlled with touchscreens. Opening the frunk reveals there is plenty of space to store the roof panels if you want to remove them and we also get to see the standard MultiPro tailgate in action.

We also briefly get to see the Hummer EV prototype on the move, but it doesn't showcase the electric off-roader's full potential. With its triple motor setup, the Hummer EV will accelerate from 0-62 mph in just three seconds, which is insane for a pickup truck.

Since GM has admitted the Hummer EV is still early in development, this is most likely a rolling prototype. Speed Phanom has reserved the Edition 1 version, which is finished in white and features a "Lunar Horizon" interior. If you were hoping to reserve an Edition 1, we're afraid you're out of luck because they sold out in just one hour.
