The fallout from the cancelation of this year's Geneva Motor Show continues as automakers are being forced to make new plans for their scheduled show debuts. Genesis, however, was not on the official list of brands for Geneva but its sister brands Hyundai and Kia were. Nonetheless, the all-new 2021 Genesis G80 has now been revealed on the brand's official Instagram account. Aside from the included photos, no other specific details were provided. "Stay tuned as we get to unveil the all-new Genesis G80," are the only words in the post.

Fortunately, the photos are actually quite good, providing us sufficient details of the exterior and interior. And yes, its side silhouette looks awfully like that of the Audi A7. It's not quite a full-on fastback design but still looks fantastic.

Looking at the massive front grille, the new G80 clearly takes this cue directly from the larger G90. The headlight design comes straight from the also all-new Genesis GV80 SUV. The taillights also feature the same split light theme. The rear three-quarter angle, in particular, looks fantastic. Looking at the interior and, once again, there are traces of the GV80's design language, perhaps most notably with the split-design steering wheel. The dashboard is a very clean design with an extremely wide touchscreen display at its center.

What's under the hood still remains unknown, but some very good guesses will be the GV80's 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6 engines.

All in all, the new Genesis G80 is a dramatic and very much welcomed departure from its nice but not overly exciting predecessor. It's exactly the jolt in styling Genesis needs for its mid-size luxury sedan. Its compact offering, the G70, is aimed directly at those seeking a performance sport sedan while the full-size G90 targets an older crowd desiring maximum comfort and luxury above all else. The new G80 could end up luring away Audi A6 and A7 and BMW 5 Series customers.

Official pricing and full specs should be announced soon.
