Seventh-grade science teacher Jason Seaman has been rewarded with a free 2018 Hyundai Elantra for his heroics efforts to stop a school shooting last month, according to Fox 59. On May 25, 2018, a student opened fire at Noblesville West Middle School in Noblesville, Indiana, about 25 miles from Indianapolis. Although exact circumstances remain unclear, Seaman reportedly tackled the student shooter and was shot three times while doing so. Another student, 13-year-old Ella Whistler, was also shot but is recovering.

The Ed Napleton Automotive Group figured Seaman deserved a new set of wheels for what he did. "As I read more and more about Jason, I heard him say he didn't think what he did was that heroic because it was the only acceptable action to take," said Brian Napleton, Director of Midwest Operations at Ed Napleton Auto Group. "In my mind that way of thinking is what makes him a hero to me." The dealership has not forgotten Ella Whistler either. It plans to donate $25 for every car sold between Memorial Day and Father's Day at its four Indianapolis dealerships. That money will go directly towards Ella's medical expenses and continued therapy.

As for Seaman, he still doesn't think of himself as a hero, despite all of the community support. "It's uplifted me. It's uplifted my wife, everybody that it's affected," he said. "There are 1,300 plus kids who go to that school and they all have parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles. Every reach out of support supports them too. So thank you from the bottom of my heart."
