New details about Fisker's new luxury electric SUV have emerged.
After an agonizingly long teaser campaign, Fisker finally lifted the wraps off the new Ocean electric SUV at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show, which could pose a significant threat to the Tesla Model Y. Details were scarce at the time, but Fisker has now released new specification details and photos of the luxury electric SUV.
According to Fisker, the Ocean measures 182.7 inches long, 76 inches wide, and 63.6 inches high, offering a spacious environment for front and rear passengers. With 20 cubic feet of trunk space, it's practical too. This increases to 25 cubic feet with the parcel shelf removed and 45 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
The Fisker Ocean will also come with roof rails and towing hook options, but towing capacity won't be announced until 2021. As standard, the base model rides on stylish 20-inch wheels, which can be upgraded to a 22-inch set.
All trims will be offered with four-wheel drive apart from the base model, which starts at $37,499. The base four-wheel-drive model will deliver over 300 horsepower, while a high-performance version will have a target a 0-62 mph time of under three seconds. Power output of the high-performance version will be announced in 2021. For comparison, the Tesla Model Y Performance will hit 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds.
Inside, the high-tech cabin features a head-up display integrated into the windshield, a large 16-inch center touch screen, and a 9.8-inch cluster screen, as well as augmented reality technology and haptic touch buttons.
Activating the patented 'California Mode' inspired by the Fisker brand's roots lowers/slides nine glass windows/panels to open the entire cabin with one touch.
Powertrain details still haven't been revealed, but we already know the Fisker Ocean will pack an 80 kWh battery delivering a range of up to 300 miles. More than 200 miles of range can be delivered from 30 minutes of charging, while Electrify America's 150 kW chargers can charge capable vehicles up to 20 miles per minute.
More technical specifications will be shared at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. Production of the Fisker Ocean is expected to commence at the end of 2021 before customer deliveries start in 2022.
