Ford has officially confirmed that the covers will come off its new Mustang-inspired SUV on November 17. This is a big deal for Ford, as it's the Blue Oval automaker's first-ever fully electric SUV. To help promote the electric SUV, Ford has announced a partnership with Hollywood star Idris Elba, who will reveal the SUV and appear in promotional materials. A teaser photo shows Elba walking alongside the new Mustang Bullitt, a Mustang Mach 1, and a Mustang Fastback.

Elba already has an affiliation with cars, having recently starred in the Fast & Furious spinoff movie 'Hobbs & Shaw.' This isn't the first time the Hollywood star has worked with Ford, either.

"Most people don't know this, but I worked at Ford as a young guy," said Elba. "My dad also worked at Ford. It's practically in my blood. So working on this project and getting behind the wheel of a car that takes us all towards the future feels like things are coming full circle, but with more exhilaration and tech."

The name of Ford's electric SUV still hasn't been confirmed, but the inclusion of a Mach 1 in the teaser photo could suggest it will use the rumored Mach E name. It was originally going to be called the Mach 1, but an overwhelmingly negative reaction from fans of the original muscle car prompted Ford to change the name.

Ford didn't reveal any new details, but there's a lot we already know about the Mustang-inspired SUV. Ford has confirmed it will deliver a range of up to 370 miles based on the WLPT cycle, while rumors suggest it will be available with all-wheel and rear-wheel drive and offer multiple battery pack options to suit different budgets.

Teaser photos have shown it will replicate the Mustang's muscular styling, sloping roof, and triple LED taillights. More information will be revealed when Ford's new electric SUV debuts on November 17. After the reveal, Ford's new all-electric SUV will be on display at the 2019 LA Auto Show.
