Honda and Acura have announced a recall that includes an additional 2.23 million vehicles due to Takata inflators. All vehicles in the recall have Takata's PSD1-5 airbag inflator on the driver's side, which could rupture if the airbag deploys. No injuries have been reported because of the airbag inflator, but there are at least 10 deaths worldwide because of Taka's exploding components. The fix is relatively simple with dealers replacing the inflators with parts from another supplier.

Repairs will being this summer and owners will receive a letter about the recall soon. The affected models are: 2005-2012 Acura RL, 2007-2011 Honda CR-V, 2007-2016 Acura RDX, 2007-2014 Honda Ridgeline, 2009-2014 Honda Fit, 2009-2014 Acura TL, 2010-2014 Honda FCX Clairty, 2010-2014 Honda Insight, 2010-2013 Acura ZDX, 2011-2015 Honda CR-Z and 2013-2016 Acura ILX. With its latest recall, the total of affected vehicles is now up to 8.51 million cars for the two automakers just in the US.
