Two years in, two more details confirmed.
Honda sure knows how to tease European Civic R fans. Want to know how much? We covered a reportalmost two years ago to the day about a Civic Type R that had been approved forproduction. Today at Frankfurt IAA they announced, well, verylittle. Two details that were speculated on in the past have been officially confirmed. The Civic Type R will be powered by a direct injection turbocharged2.0-litre engine and will deliver at least 280 hp.
Honda also announced they are still two years away from getting the Civic Type R to showrooms but continue improvements with their on track testing. Manabu Nishimae, President, Honda Motor Europe, added; “We have recently spent a week at the Nurburgring, carrying out extensive testing and we are on target, and have already set a time approaching the lap record.”
In addition to their announcement, the company has released official spy photos and a nifty video of the Civic Type R testing at the Ring.
