Two years in, two more details confirmed.
Honda sure knows how to tease European Civic R fans. Want to know how much? We covered a report almost two years ago to the day about a Civic Type R that had been approved for production. Today at Frankfurt IAA they announced, well, very little. Two details that were speculated on in the past have been officially confirmed. The Civic Type R will be powered by a direct injection turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and will deliver at least 280 hp.
Honda also announced they are still two years away from getting the Civic Type R to showrooms but continue improvements with their on track testing. Manabu Nishimae, President, Honda Motor Europe, added; "We have recently spent a week at the Nurburgring, carrying out extensive testing and we are on target, and have already set a time approaching the lap record."
In addition to their announcement, the company has released official spy photos and a nifty video of the Civic Type R testing at the Ring.
