Honda Created A Monstrous Civic Coupe With 600 HP And A Bonkers 0-60 Time

Meet the newest Global Rallycross racer.

Honda is going all-in with its newest Civic, offering up five different variants (sedan, coupe, hatchback, Si and Type R) in addition to a race car. This is the Civic Red Bull Global Rallycross racer which was debuted at the 2016 New York Auto Show. In addition to sporting a Red Bull livery and a very racy look (pun intended) the new Civic will also pack some serious power under the hood. Honda says it’ll pump out 600 horsepower and do 0-60 mph in just 1.9 seconds.

These are figures teenage ricers only dream about and that high school tuners dream about when they’re wrenching away in the garage. The Civic will be piloted by Sebastian Eriksson and Joni Wiman and will see its first action on May 21 in Phoenix. Obviously this type of power won’t ever make a production model but it’s always good to see an automaker take its volume models racing. We’re not saying Mugen will start turning daily drivers into GRC cars but you’d have to think there will be some trickle down to the in-house performance department with a 600-hp Civic competing around the country.
