Honda has just released a sketch of the next generation Civic which is set to debut at next month's Detroit Auto Show. Although it's not a real photo, it's still clear the new car takes some front-end design cues from the Honda CR-Z. The headlamps are more aggressive with a swept back look and there's a larger air inlet with slit-like fog lamps at each side. This illustration also looks to be a three-door hatchback, the Type R, which is currently available in Europe only.
Does that mean the US will finally get the long-awaited hatch? Quite possibly. The standard coupe and sedan will also be back, with the latter been caught undergoing testing in spy photos. Engine options are still unknown, but some earlier reports have suggested that there may be a diesel option along with a new gasoline engine. It's also rumored there'll be an optional dual-clutch transmission. All of our questions will have answers soon as Detroit is just around the corner.
