Right now, the only three-row Honda SUV you can buy in America is the Pilot. In Indonesia, however, Honda has unveiled a new three-row SUV concept called the N7X (standing for New 7-Seater eXcitement) with room for up to seven passengers that could preview the next-generation BR-V. Since the BR-V isn't sold in the US and is only available in markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, Mexico, and South Africa the production version is unlikely to come to the US market.

That's a shame because the three-row Volkswagen Tiguan and Mitsubishi Outlander could do with some competition in America.

In terms of proportions, the BR-V is larger than America's HR-V but smaller than the Pilot. Compared to the current BR-V, the N7X looks more premium and resembles an SUV rather than an MPV. At the front, the N7X appears to borrow design cues from the recently-unveiled next-generation HR-V, including slim sweptback LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights and a prominent chrome grille with horizontal slats.

A prominent character line adorns the side profile, stretching from the headlights to the taillights, while the wheel arches, roof rails, and roof-mounted rear spoiler give the N7X a rugged appearance.

Unfortunately, we don't get a look inside the cabin, so it's unclear how much rear legroom the third row will offer. It could have slightly less than the Pilot, however, which offers 31.9 inches of legroom for third-row passengers.

Honda also hasn't released any technical details for the N7X. If it previews the next-generation BR-V, the production model will likely be powered by the same 1.5-liter gasoline engine rated at 119 hp and 106 lb-ft of torque and a 1.5-liter diesel with 98 hp and 147 lb-ft as Indonesia's Honda City. The production version of the N7X is expected to arrive in August, but we'll have to wait and see if Honda offers an affordable three-row SUV inspired by the N7X in America.
