Hot Hatch Track Battle Makes Us Want to Move to Europe

Comparison

Two of the quickest front-wheel-drive pocket-rockets on Earth come face to face.

If you want to drive a proper hot hatch, then Europe is the place to be. Two of the best pocket rockets on the continent right now are the Renault Megane 265 Cup and the Seat Leon Cupra 280, which are the focus of British publication Evo’s latest track battle. The Megane comes powered by a 261-hp 2.0-liter turbo, enabling it to sprint from 0-60 mph in six seconds and hit a top speed of 158 mph. The Leon Cupra 280 also boasts a 2.0-liter turbo four, rated at 276 hp, giving it a 5.7-second 0-60 mph time and a limited top speed of 155 mph.

It also holds the Nurburgring lap record for front-wheel cars – stealing it away from the Megane by a massive nine seconds. So has the new kid on the block taken the crown from the French favorite? Evo reveals all.
