Cars.co.za recently put out a video of a BMW M135i drag racing against the Audi S3 sedan. The results were pretty surprising. The visually stunning S3 derives its power from a 2.0-liter turbo-four that puts out 276 horses. The BMW M135i, on the other hand, uses a 320 horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six. Given that the BMW packs 44 more hp, one might think it would be the clear winner in this competition. The Killarney Raceway in South Africa is apparently slippery, which plays a role.

It's worth noting that the hp figures on the S3 are different from the US-spec model. Perhaps it would have been more fair for these pertrolheads to put the Audi S3 against a more similar opponent, the BMW M1239 xDrive. Regardless, it's interesting to see how important traction is for straight line performance.
