How Good is the BMW M5 Competition Package?

Tuning

Motor Trend checks out to what extent the in-house upgrades improve the M5.

On the latest episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago returns to the BMW M5. But this time the Motor Trend presenter is looking at the high-performance 5er fitted with the Competition Package. Exterior updates are limited to a restyled kidney grille, unique 20-inch alloys and sport exhaust, and the cabin gets a new steering wheel, but it’s the performance upgrades on trial here. These include 15 more horsepower, a retuned chassis including new coil springs and damper calibrations, stiffened anti-sway bars, and a 10 mm lowered ride height.

The M5 Competition Package boasts a 0.1 second quicker 0-62 mph time, and is meant to give the driver a more satisfying ride. So, should M5 drivers invest in the package? Watching this video should help them decide.
