The folks at Dodge are awesome, plain and simple. In a world of hybrids, plug-ins and EVs, these guys went ahead and built a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. And then they stuffed it under the hood of the Challenger and Charger. Damn brilliant. And the buying public has taken notice. Chrysler is reporting that last month's sales figures for the Challenger were up 27 percent with a total of 4,140 units sold. But get this: Dodge dealers are claiming that more than 5,000 orders have been placed for the Challenger SRT Hellcat.

Should we be at all surprised here? Not in the least. For just about $60k, buyers receive a 707 horsepower, 650 lb-ft of torque piece of fine American muscle. What we don't know for certain, but can almost guarantee, is happening are dealer markups. Just a simple consequence of huge demand coupled with extra money to be made.
