Is anyone surprised that it is a lot?
The last time we saw the final US-spec McLaren P1 it was headed to auction. Chassis number 371 of 375 is painted in Alaskan Diamond White with an orange interior. The car only has 234 miles on it and is in pristine condition. It was expected to get between $1.9 and $2.2 million in Scottsdale, Arizona. Do you think it got it? Of course it did. The car sold for $2.09 million and set a record for P1s at auction. Maybe this new owner will actually drive the 903-horsepower hybrid supercar more than 234 miles. It is a shame that these cars don't get used.
The value of these cars is expected to keep increasing. Just look at the McLaren F1. Even Rowan Atkinson's car, which had very high mileage, was sold for a fortune. If you are lucky enough to afford one of these cars, you should definitely go out and get yourself a P1.
