The engine costs more than a fully-functional Ferrari.
There are many cars on the market that are powered by incredible engines, but there will always be people that dream of putting that amazing engine into a different car. Most engine swaps use something simple like a GM LS motor or a Honda engine, but we have seen some more complicated swaps like the Ferrari-powered Toyota GT4586. Using a Ferrari engine for an engine swap project isn't easy because the engine would be difficult to integrate and expensive to purchase. Those who'd still like to try will now have the ultimate opportunity.
That's because someone is currently selling a 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari engine on eBay. The seller claims that there are only 200 miles on the engine, and we don't doubt it with the way that most rare Ferrari models barely get driven. We thought that this may be a scam at first, but the seller, fioranosportscar, has a 100% rating of positive feedback and specializes in selling luxury cars that have been wrecked and parted out. Now comes the interesting part, the price. The LaFerrari engine is currently on sale with an asking price of $285,000 with and option to make a best offer. Shipping will also tack on an extra $2,000 because the engine is coming from Hialeah, Florida.
By itself, the 6.3-liter V12 produces a whopping 789 hp. The LaFerrari combines this engine with a KERS system to produce a total of 949 hp, although this is only the engine that is for sale. This engine may cost more than an entire used 488 GTB, but perhaps there is some fabulously wealthy individual out there that would like to swap this amazing V12 into something crazy. Do you have an idea for what you'd do with this V12? Let us know in the comment section.
