The Hyundai Veloster N is typically not offered with rebates, unlike the rest of the automaker's lineup. Niche models like this simply work differently. But there is some good news today that people in the market for this hot hatch will likely find quite interesting. CarsDirect points out that the 2020 Veloster N is currently eligible for a discount of up to $1,000. A dealer incentive bulletin states there is currently a $500 rebate plus an additional $500 when financing at non-promotional rates. Do the easy math.

Potential buyers could, alternatively, opt for 2.9 percent financing for up to 60 months along with a $500 cash incentive. Which offer to choose? Probably the latter, and here's why: a $1,000 discount equates to a monthly payment of $510 on a five-year loan at 5 percent interest. This brings the vehicle's total cost to $30,571. The financing offer, however, would slightly drop that monthly payment to $493.

This translates to a total of $996 in savings, plus the lower monthly payment. For those who want the Veloster N with the optional $2,100 Performance Package, the financing offer will again probably be the better choice. It boils down to a $500 incentive or taking out a loan at 2.9 percent APR plus the $500 bonus.

The Performance Package, despite the additional cost, is probably worth it because you'll be tacking on a limited-slip differential, 19-inch wheels with performance rubber, larger brakes, and a 25 horsepower increase for a total of 275 hp.

Okay, but what about leasing a new 2020 Veloster N? It's best to probably pass on that because lease deals continue to be disappointing for this hot hatch. This month, a Veloster N lease begins at $419 a month for 36 months with $2,299 due at signing. That's an effective cost of $483 a month – nearly the same as buying the car.

These current 2020 Hyundai Veloster N offers are good through December 2.
