It would be an understatement to describe the Hyundai Ioniq 5 as a success. Not only has it proven itself as extremely safe, but the electric vehicle has also driven off with an enviable collection of awards in the past year, such as the 2022 World Car of The Year.

Not content with being the apple of the auto industry's eye, the Korean automaker is now looking to dominate our TV screens with the EV, too. The Ioniq 5 will serve as the official transport in Netflix's Down to Earth with Zac Efron: Down Under, a show that explores climate change and healthy, environmentally friendly ways to live.

As a pure electric car, the electric Hyundai emits zero tailpipe emissions and therefore appeals to the eco-conscious among us.

In the trailer seen above, the Ioniq 5 is used in a number of situations. Efron and co-host Darin Olien can be seen enjoying the vehicle's various features, even using one of the outlets to prepare a breakfast smoothie while on the move. Without giving too much away, the duo can also be seen using the vehicle's electric power to power various items at an off-the-grid campsite.

With a claimed range of 303 miles for the single-motor model, the duo should be able to get around with ease.

Interestingly, Hyundai has opened a quirky hotel in England that works similarly. Guests arrive in Ioniq 5 crossovers and use the electric crossovers to power the appliances and luxury rooms. Equipped with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, Hyundai says the Ioniq 5 can supply up to 3.6 kW of power.

"This new toy is sure to put a charge in our Aussie travels," says Efron. The actor jokingly quips that he just has to remember to stay on the correct side of the road.

While it's unlikely that The Greatest Showman star will be trading in his high-end garage - Efron seemingly has an affinity for Audi products - for an Ioniq 5, it's great to see the electric crossover getting the recognition it deserves.

Of course, this isn't the first time an Ioniq 5 will have graced the silver screen. Previously, the EV made an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Its ICE-powered sibling, the Tucson, has also had its fair share of screen time, starring in Unchartered, which includes big-name stars like Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland.
