Just 2,500 units will be produced.
After taking its home market by storm, Hyundai has unveiled the first member of the Ioniq 6 family for the European market. The First Edition, limited to just 2,500 units, will be made available in key Hyundai EV markets, namely the UK, Germany, France, Norway, and the Netherlands. The special edition variant is priced at £54,995 (approx. $63,500) and is the first model to sport the redesigned Hyundai logo.
The Ioniq 6 First Edition sets itself apart with exclusive design elements. The stylish 20-inch wheels and various exterior accents (such as the mirror caps and body moldings) have been treated to a matte and glossy black finish, respectively.
Aside from the rich Biophilic Blue Pearl paint color, customers can also select from Gravity Gold Matte, Serenity White Pearl, and Nocturne Grey. The First Edition also boasts black aluminum Hyundai badging.
The unique touches filter into the cabin of the Ioniq 6 First Edition where you'll find a fully black interior, replete with a matching headliner and leather seats with Grey Tartan fabric inserts. Hyundai says this takes inspiration from the Prophecy EV concept. The limited-run Ioniq 6 also features unique Econyl floor seats, also trimmed with Grey Tartan accents.
First-Edition models are well-equipped, and ship standard with heated seats (front and rear), a heated steering wheel, a powered tailgate and front seats (memory for the driver), and a Bose Premium Audio system, among other things. Safety features include Highway Driving Assist 2, blind spot assist, and a surround-view monitor.
A 77.4-kWh battery powers the dual motor, all-wheel drive setup which provides 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. The 800-volt charging system is capable of charging on a 350-kW ultra-fast charger. Hyundai has previously said the Ioniq 6 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
If you're interested, customers may pre-order the First Edition via a dedicated website when pre-sales commence at 10:00 CET on November 9, 2022.
"The Ioniq 6 First Edition presents customers with not only a unique specification but also an opportunity to secure one of the very first vehicles to reach the UK," commented the company's Ashley Andrew. If you're lucky enough to secure one of the First Edition models, Hyundai says deliveries are expected to commence between March and April 2023.
If you don't manage to get your hands on the First Edition, don't fret. Additional trim levels, such as the Premium and Ultimate, are expected to touch down shortly. Pricing and specification will be announced closer to the time. As for whether the First Edition will be launched in the United States remains to be seen. But we're certainly holding out hope.
