It appears that Hyundai has some great expectations for this car.
The all-new 2015 Hyundai Genesis caused quite a stir at Detroit with its edgier lines and an overall increase in refinement and luxury. While the first gen Genesis was a great car, Hyundai is going for gold this time around as it takes the large luxury sedan fight straight to the Japanese and Germans. But in order to have any chance to win, Hyundai will need to bring an even more powerful Genesis to life, and recent reports claim that an all-wheel drive V8-powered version is on the way.
The Genesis, as we all know, comes with standard rear-wheel-drive but Hyundai is anxious to show off its new "HTRAC" AWD system which splits torque between the front and rear axles electronically. Buyers will soon be able to order this system on V6-powered models, but there was no word at Detroit whether it'll be available with the V8. Turns out Hyundai is still debating the potential future of a high-performance V8 AWD Genesis. No production green light has been given just yet, but it's possible the car may have even more power than the 5.0-liter V8's 420 hp. If the car does happen, we won't see it until sometime after the regular V6 and V8 Genesis arrives in dealers this spring.
