Hyundai Santa Fe Gets A Wild Makeover

Check out Carlex Design's new custom Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Hyundai Santa Fe isn't normally associated with the aftermarket tuning scene, but Carlex Design has changed this trend with its new one-of-a-kind SUV dubbed the 'Carlex Urban Edition.' Based on the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Urban Edition is described as the "most designer car in the D-segment."

The standard Hyundai Santa Fe is already a very stylish SUV, but Carlex's new custom version looks a lot sportier thanks to its bespoke body kit. Among the exterior enhancements include a redesigned front bumper, a new spoiler, and a prominent diffuser that improves the aerodynamics.

Stylish wheel arch extensions housing 20-inch alloy wheels make the Santa Fe look more aggressive, while a contrasting black wrap film applied to the upper body helps make it stand out.

Carlex is renowned for its stunning custom interiors, and the Urban Edition's cabin is lavished with new luxuries. Inside, the dark interior features bespoke front seats trimmed with leather and quilted Italian Alcantara, offering limousine levels of luxury. Contrasting lime-colored accents adorn the seats, the door panels and the steering wheel. A reshaped steering wheel trimmed with leather and Alcantara offers improved grip. Bespoke embossed and embroidered motifs round off the interior changes.

Carlex hasn't made any modifications under the hood, so the powertrain has been left stock. In its most powerful guise, the Hyundai Santa Fe is offered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 235 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-62 mph in around eight seconds.

The Urban Edition will available soon and will initially be offered in South Korea. Carlex hasn't announced pricing details, but it will be considerably more expensive than the standard Hyundai Santa Fe, which starts at $26,125. This could be the next best thing to a Hyundai Santa Fe N-Line appearance package, which could be offered on the upcoming 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe facelift. What do you think of Carlex Design's custom Hyundai Santa Fe?
